Duel exhaust modification and fix for low end power loss
Like many, I experienced a loss of low end power after installing the Gibson duel last year. If I had researched it on this forum, I probably would have gone with the side swept single. But I got the duel and just cant toss it.
So I did a bunch of reading around the forum about the problems with the duel 2.5 setup on the JK and came across posts claiming that using a venture to create some restriction upstream of the muffler had solved the problem. I went on line to find this product but had no luck and was too lazy and impatient to call up customer service people. I have also seen bolt on tips that use the same principal advertized.
So I decided to try and create one for myself.
Parts I used:
2 - 2.5 to 2 exhaust adaptors
2 2 to 1 7/8 adapters
2 1 7/8 extensions
I cut off the 2.5 tips on the Gibson as they begin to bend towards the rear of the Jeep. I then welded the 2.5-2 to the 2-1 7/8 and that to the 1 7/8. I welded to combination back onto the Gibson where I had made to cut.
In order to reuse the Gibson tips, I welded the2.5 piece that I had cut off over the other pieces.
Overall, I am very happy with the change. The low end is much improved. I have an auto and I am no longer downshifting on hills where I had to after putting on the Gibson.
The noise level at highway speeds is slightly decreased so I no hear the tires more than the exhaust at 60mph. However, I it still just as aggressive when accelerating from stops lights in the city with a nice deep tone.
I also like the angled look better than straight out the back, but I will need to unbolt the tips when we go into the rocks for better clearance.
Also, would somebody please explain how to upload pics so I can show it as I know I write up is crap without pics but I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks.

Don't just chastise the poor guy, help him out!
To post pics open an account either here....http://my.project-jk.com/ or through a hosting service like photobucket for free. After your pics are uploaded, you'll see an 'IMG CODE' box with a bunch of stuff you need to copy then paste into your thread. I think there is a sticky in the show & tell section on how to do all of this so start there.

So let me get this straight. This is the picture in my head of your dual exhaust. Starting with the headers to the y-pipe to a single pipe then over the rear axle to a muffler from which two pipes go to the rear sides of the jeep. Am I see an accurate picture? If not where am I going wrong?

I knew I was going to get that, which is why I asked for help posting the pics - how is it done
