Default Electronics Mount

Ok, hear it is, Questions? Just Ask

1. Remove top cover and partially remove front radio cover according to BeerMonkey's write up. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/removing-factory-radio-706/

2. Remove right two Radio mount bolts.

3. Here are your dimensions for the bracket. I used 22 guage steel, a little thicker wouldn't hurt.

4. Here is your first bend.

5. Here is your second bend.

6. Drill your holes for the bracket, radio side and your mount side.
7. Paint the bracket.
8. Mount the bracket to the radio using stock screws.

9. Button and screw everthing back up.

10. Enjoy.

The phone in the picture is a Sprint Pocket PC. The cradle is from Seido.com
This phone is MP3, Bluetooth, Internet, Just like your computer. I also have a Bluetooth GPS, but no software yet.

This is a damn good mod - good job!! If you don't mind me asking, how did you make such clean bends?

I wish I had a Break, but I don't. Used a vise. Placed the bend point about 1/16" above vise then started bend with hand and then used 2X4 against bracket and hammer to finish bend. It's only 22 guage steel.

Man that's the cleanest looking "homebrew" mount I've seen yet -- great job!

I have a mount on order from ProClip (www.proclipusa.com), but since it's brand new for the JK they don't have any pics of the application... we'll see what it looks like when it gets here, wouldn't be surprised if I wind up returning it and going this route.

Great job!

I am really contemplating borrowing your design to make one for myself. My only concern is that it may either impede or puncture the passenger side airbag when it is deployed. I wonder if this is why ProClip didn't make theirs this way?

Anyways, thanks for sharing your ideas! I am sure you will start to see these mounts in everyones JK now LOL

Thumbs up Mount

I just made one out of 18 gage steel. I use it for my Garmin portable GPS.
This is perfect!!! Check it out.

Thanks for sharing the idea.
