Thumbs down Rugged Ridge fuel door is GARBAGE!!

I picked up a Rugged Ridge locking fuel door about 4 months ago after a full tank of gas got siphoned out of my JK. It mounts with 2 small screws into the plastic insert and 4 out of 5 times you try you can't unlock the thing because the tiny little 1/4" long screw that holds on the ENTIRE locking mechanism together comes loose. So tonight the whole P.O.S. fell apart while locked at the gas station. So I had to bash it right off the side of my jeep right there in the parking lot.

No there is not...you will not damage the sheet metal.

Default Wtb your aluminum screws

If you have switched to black screws, I would like to buy your aluminum ones. I need one set.

For those who have installed them.
Is the outer ring any bigger than the factory one?
Courious of it will fit in the hole in my corner guards.
No, if anything it is a hair smaller but not much

I have the AEV corner guards and the Mopar fuel door. The fuel door is slightly larger than the AEV corner guard hole.

I picked up some new bolts for the fuel door that were a little bit longer than the ones that came with the fuel door and some rubber washers (not really needed). I took off the outer part of the fuel door (4 bolts), then installed the AEV corners. After I installed the corners I bolted the outside ring of the fuel door back on using my new longer bolts and the rubber washers for some spacing between the two parts of the fuel door. The door fits great.

Thanks for the detailed instructions - very helpful. I was pretty perplexed by the almost-worthless Mopar illustrations.

Got the fuel door on this afternoon without too much trouble... that far 3rd clip was difficult at first but a little patience and wiggling got it loose. The new door looks great!

Thanks so much for the info!! Put my fuel door on and had a giant gap all the way around :( Pulled up this thread and found out we didn't have the bottom clips in all the way. Fixed that and BAM no more gap I'm happy now
