Full Traction 4 inch Long Arm on my '12 Rubicon

I will update my progress...... Granted we have a BIG trip on the rubicon coming up the following Monday.. I was thinking I have PLENTY of time...

Day 1. Tuesday

Unpackaged my kit... felt like a kid in the candy store.. Loving the beefy components. Looking at all the parts scattered on the floor, start to feel that overwhelming feeling. My buddy Brent just as excited came over to help me out. We started to tear down the front end...

After getting everything situated and the wheels off... time for a beer break? .. NOPE.. keep going :-)

Pulling off the control arms, shocks, springs was a piece of cake. So while I was working on that.. Brent started pulling the bumpers off, since those were going to be replaced. My confidence is high!

Next onto the gas tank. This is what I was worried about.. but it actually came out pretty easy. I did have to pull the passenger side bolt on the lower control arm to avoid scratching things. During this time I also removed the rear driveshaft (another replacement).

So with this done.. I started on removal of the driver side lower control arm bracket. after about an hour of trying to get through it.. I gave up for the night.

Day 2 Wednesday

I got a late start... damn day job. Kept at grinding and cutting away. I finally decided to grab my friends reciprocating saw. man oh man.. it cut like butter.. but did not allow me to get into the tight spots very well. So i cut most of it off, and then back to the grinder.

after all that grinding and cutting, I got 90% of the brackets (upper and lower on both sides) done. I had to call it a night. spirits are dwindling for Mondays trip... I have people driving from MN and WI for this trip. sigh

Day 3 Thursday

I need to at least get the front done. So I get on grinding the brackets. FINISHED THEM! whew...

Drilled out the holes for the brackets, paint them up the frame where I ground it down.... I let it dry and grabbed a beer (dont question it.. this not the first one)

As I am installing the passenger bracket I notice I am missing some bolts... thinking I am crazy I called Full Traction. Yep.. missing.. they are overnighting them to me.. but instead of waiting, I ran to the hardware store to keep me going. Randy and Steve at Full Traction are the bomb... they have tolerated my repeated questions.. about everything... however I was slightly disappointed that I was missing a couple things, they are quick to send me the parts.

I get the passenger bracket on .. and I am getting excited to see some progress!!

I install all the control arms... and start looking at the springs and realize this is gonna be tough to get it done in time. I need a few more tools.. so I call it a day...

Sorry... got wrapped up Friday - Sunday finishing things off. Then we hit the Rubicon on Monday... The kit performed awesome. Few minor glitches. My shocks were a little long for the sway bar links. So I bent em... Sounds like Full Traction is sending me some new ones.. Other than that... it was AWESOME. My wife says that she thinks it drives better now onroad...

Thanks for the semi write up, would love to see more pics of it installed. This will be the kit I go with. I want 38's and a pr44 front but that will be about 2 years down the road cause I want to pay my 2012 off first then do the major mods. That way I can upgrade a whole lot faster. I don't like small incremental upgrades, would rather do it all at once or very close together.
