So I got the Home Depot 1 inch clips and zip ties (black and UV rated)
Goo Gone xtreme to remove the adhesives (bathe em for 5-10 minutes, they slip right off)
Plastic Epoxy - LockTite 7 minute set
and found these cool sturdy gutter guards at Lowe's that I like cause they are plastic and have round holes just like the lights on the front end.
Painted them Black with 4 coats of plastic rated spray and then non-gloss enameled them with 2 more coats of spray.
bought four 3' pieces and cut them down to 7 15" or so strips.
I like the look, some will not I'm sure.
I read this thread over and used all the best practices I saw... Sanding for adhesion, alcohol to clean. and liked knowing I hadn't seen a picture of the round style grill cover yet.
My only concern might be the air flow, but I don't really think it's a concern at all. it breathes pretty well.
UPDATE: Drove from Virginia Beach to New Jersey and back (250 miles one way). No heat issues. Temp gauge never budged.

I used loctite superglue on the anchor squares... i didnt think to remove the pre-adhesive backs though but hopefully everything stays together... went with the gutter guards from home depot too btw

The rain finally sttoped in Houston long enough for me to finish this mod last night. Write-up was great spot on. Now I just need a write up on how to get dried Gorilla glue off my fingers.

Great write up! I did mine last night with black plastic gutter guard. Performed the clean, sand, clean again, sticky pad, 5 minute epoxy routine and hopefully it holds up well.
I think I have $15 invested in the project and about 2.5 hours of time. Awesome mod!
