did not smooth out welds. they were just looking to pretty.

Im with karl on this one. They made nice, simple bumper tire carriers like this for YJ/TJ's for about $350. Why can't companies throw us a bone and make something clean, simple and cheap for our JK's.

5' of 2"X4"X3/16" for main body
3' of 2"X2"X.120 for top (just had it laying around)
2' of 2"X3"X3/16" angle iron for brackets
2' of 2"X3/16" flat stock for caping

metal was about $60-70. got about 6 real hours into it. R&D is fun!

did not like the way it was mounted on the outside of the frame rail so i cut them off and started over. mounting legs now go into the frame rail with nuts welded on the inside. now to start my tire carrier next monday.
