Default How to restore fade away fenders low budget

Materials that you will need:

-heat gun
-back to black by mothers ( or your favorite plastic restorer)
-screwdriver
-cloth towel or polishing towel
-time and patience

Instructions:

1 - get your fenders off your jk, not really necessary but is a good idea to avoid paint damage( follow this link to learn how to go to steps 4-9 http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...ation-write-up ).

2 - give them a nice wash with water and soap ( soap without wax, you don't want them to be oily for this). Let the fenders dry on the sun, until they are completely dry.

3 - start your heat gun, and let it warm up. Use a table or bench where you can place your fender to worked them out.

4 - apply heat to the fender on circular motion through all the fender. Do not apply heat in one spot, always keep motion. You are gone hold the heat gun with relative distance ( it depends on which heat gun you have, mine is cheapo from pepboys $18.00, so i had to held it pretty close to the plastic )
Note: use this tutorial for a better idea on how to apply heat to your fenders ( http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ8jGm6vIfk )

Difference on treated area and non treated.

Thanks,

On the peanut butter, im planning on using it, the soonest i run out of back to black.

Is important to apply peanut butter or back to black or your favorite one every other wash you give your jk

I use a product called SC-1. You can purchase it at any motorcycle parts shop. Spray on and wipe off. It's made for dirt bike and quad plastic. Repels dirt and water. Love it.
