Default Installing Rubicon Suspension

I have never worked on suspension and I was wondering how to and how easy is it to replace X suspension with rubicon suspension.... I've read it takes about 3 hours with some basic hand tools and floor jacks. Is there any write ups since I do not know what to do. Pics would help alot.

3 hours for a first timer is about right .... once you got it down ... it's probably less than 90 minutes ..... even less with a good helper.

Remove Wheels
Disconnect Sway Bars
Remove Shocks
Drop Axle and Remove Springs

Reverse with new suspension parts.

Disconnect the brake lines from the frame in the rear so you don't break them. Also watch out for the ABS sensor leads ... detach them from caliper mounts while working so they don't break.

I have no been home long enough to install them. I'm down at college and only up at my house for a day or so and I have other stuff planned. I will in two weeks and I'll take a before and after shot. I think I will buy a teraflex leveling kit for it also. What do you all think? I'll be running GY durtracs 285 on 17 procomp 8179 rims

Forgive me for asking but....why? There is nothing better about the rubicon springs than any other JK, they do have better quality shocks I've heard. Unless your factory ones are worn and you got rubi's for very cheap, which I can see happening.

What makes a rubi is larger front end (dana 44), lower geared tranfer case low (4 to 1 ratio) and factory lockers front & rear. The springs have nothing to do with it.

It will be very educational for you, which is a great thing. I advocate everyone to turn their own wrenches.

I heard differently depending on the options on the rubicon(hard top, towing package) But I have heard the shocks are better.

True there are about 22 or so different spring combination depending on 2 or 4 door, tow package, top option, etc. but rubi has nothing to do with it you can get the same options on any model that makes that difference in what springs were put on the jeep factory. So if you had springs from a 4 door hard top X they provide more height than a 2 door rubi soft top springs but we are only talking an inch or so.

Unless you got 'em free you'd be better off just using spacers at least you'd know exactly the height change when you are finished with the work.

My unlimited x didnt come with a tow package, thought I installed it later on and it did come with a hard top so the rubicon springs I got have the tow package strength and hard top so they are a little better but The shocks are what I mainly got it for Then I think I will get the teraflex leveling kit I tthink
