I know there are kits out there for this. But this doesn't require a kit.

Magnaflow 14377 muffler
Flow master 51017 heat shield

Cut out 17 1/2" of pipe and install muffler. Weld pipes. Strap on heat shield







Cut off factory muffler. Cut as close to the muffler as possible. Butt weld cut pipe onto factory pipe.



We added a hanger from the tail pipe to a factory hanger donut just to stiffen it up a bit.

This is exactly what I did about a month ago, the shop that I had do it did it for less then 200 and thats Canadian. No heat shield though, I also have a 2 door with a relocated evap canister. I found it a bit loud initially, but I other got used to it or the muffler got a little quieter over time.

 

I used a Walker Thrush glasspack. Bright red muffler looks pretty cool. I used the 28" total length 23" x 4" shell. Barely fits in the strait pipe area under the 4 door. It started out a little loud, but REAL deep sound. It has been almost a month now I guess, and the sound has mellowed a lot. My wife thought it was loud at first, but loves it now. She said it sounds pretty mean. So deep it can not be mistaken for a ricer. It is clamped on now, but I'm going to have it welded as soon as I go to my inlaws place. They weld, so woo whoo free welding. Part Number for the muffler is 24214, $26.48 at advanced, and right now they are giving $5 off. So, $21.48. Not too bad. I might be able to get some pictures if it will stop raining today.

 

I have been thinking about doing this with the Super 44 off-road version.

It is actually getting quiter the more I drive it. It isn't loud. But it is louder. There is increased sound in the cabin. With the stereo on, we don't notice it. Took the wife over a month to figure it out. She was standing behind the Jeep while I was backing my pontoon boat up a hill. The back of my jeep raised a bit when removing that big junk factory muffler.

 

i really want to do that... that is amazing...i am going to add that to the list of sweet mods great work....
