I am going to do this due to some rough idle issues I have been having. Couple questions first. Step 1 disconnect battery. If I remove the tb completely can I spray tb cleaner in to the tb or should I apply using a rag? It sounds if the tb valve moves I should be ok. Do you think using some brake cleaner sprayed into the tb to finish it off would be ok to make sure all dust and other grime is blown out since brake fluid dries quickly?

When you remove the TB, you can spray into it. You don't "have" to use rags, but you can. We used Brake and Carb cleaner on our TBs when we cleaned ours. The Brake cleaner is nice for spraying out the grime, just be sure to use it liberally. We let ours sit for a few mins to dry out while doing an intake mod on my dad's F150.

So using brake cleaner will not harm the TB? Since it's plastic I didn't know if it would damage it. I think I will feel safe and buy a can of TB cleaner. But if you guys says that using brake cleaner is Ok then I dont have to buy a thing. And yes I have been experiencing idle problems around 500 rpm. Pepe has almost 85000 on him.

I dont know bout break cleaner but if you get some B13 Carb and Throttle Body cleaner, it will do the job very well. I soaked mine in Sea Foam Deep Creep spray, let it set for 5 minutes and then blew it all off with the B13. Only needed a shop towel to while off the excess. Looked like new when I was done.

Sorry, I meant B12, not B13.

Did mine yesterday; it was a bit dirty. My jeep is a 2007 with 90,000+ miles.

Have you checked to make sure you stuck it back on tight and have the hose snug? Air might be squeezing in.

I'm going to be doing this in the next couple days as well as a new K&N Air Filter, NGK Double Platinum Spark Plugs, Mobile 1 Oil Change (No idea what the previous owner did). I'm new to doing most of this kind of stuff, should I do the TB cleaning, sparks, and K&N Filter all at separate times with a short 5 minute drive in between to help the computer out? Or a one shot glory of everything at one time?
