Keeping fenders black?
Rub some peanut butter on the flares, rub it in, and wipe it off. I didn't see worthy results when I did it. Same deal with lemon pledge. The paint has been the way to go.
Pic from the peanut butter gig. Next to the paper is where the pb was.

Paint them and be done....I did it on the TJ and they came out great.

The Turtle wax trim restorer works great. I've used it on my motorcycle, and it performed miracles that I thought only black paint would fix. I had a stain on a plastic piece that turned the plastic white. The trim restorer made the part look new again.
So I got the Krylon Fusion today... haven't used it because...
my dad berated me, saying, "Over time, that crap will peel and flake and blah, blah... you'll have one helluva mess..."
So the question is, is this true??? Anyone try it?
Feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but I'm sick of applying stuff that comes off after two rainfalls.
Well, it is paint- so the details of prep work will determine how well it hold up. I sprayed mine quickly but 3-4 coats and they held up fine to the rain and everything else. I did drag them on trees which obviously scuffed the paint off in that spot but it never peeled or flaked off on me. It isn't like the plastidip that's designed for removal.

Now, to 'prep' the areas to be painted, does that mean to just wash, dry, and then wipe with an ammonia-based cleaner (for weathered surfaces) only?
Is there anything I have to spray on the surface to be painted, BEFORE I PAINT, with anything except the spray paint?
