Now that you've had these for awhile what are your thoughts on using them? Are they big enough for both small and big feet? Did you need to add some no slip tape to the rails/tube? Have you hit anything with them or used them to "swivel" around a tree or rock? Do they keep the mud and dirt down on the sides of the doors?

Just nosey old me and thanks!

I am still glad I have these and not something else. No remorse at all (Unlike the ARB front bumper)

They are large enough to use as a step into the jeep, I wear size 11. Not big enough to stand on it long enough to wash the top.

Yes, I used some 1" x 12" pieces from lowes. they are in the ladder section and are designed to be added to the steps of ladders.

I have hit rocks twice. The powdercoat's texture scratches pretty easilly but it did not get through to the metal. One of the rocks dented the crap out of my gas tank skid too. No damage whatsoever to the metal of the sliders.

Not at all, plenty of mud gets on the side and in fact they tend to collect mud inside the sliders. since I use a pressure washer anyway it takes about 10 more seconds to clean than if I did not have them.

Default Question re 2-Door Sliders

Hi Everyone,

Great write-up! Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

I will be installing 2-door LoD sliders this weekend. This is probably a stupid question to ask on the forum; but, I was hoping to get an answer tonight. (I will call LoD in the morning if I am still confused.)

Because there are no real instructions, other than what has been written in this forum, I want to make certain I start off correctly.

1. Which slider is which (right or left)? I want to make sure the bolt holes are drilled correctly.

2. Is the selection of fasteners for each side pretty simple to conceptualize? If not, any advice would be appreciated.

3. Should I mount the rails with the skid plates between the rails and the frame, or with the skid plate between the rail mount points and the frame. (It may be obvious when I get started; but, I thought I should ask.)

Thanks

Jeff

Finally got them on today. They have been sitting around for a few months now. I have been procrastinating this job because I thought it was going to be a huge pain in the ass. It was kind of time consuming but it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Was actually quite easy.

Just a word of advice, if you end up buying them be prepared to wait at least a month or two. I ordered mine April 12th and they said they were behind 4-5 weeks in getting them out. Its been 7 weeks and I'm still waiting but I called them yesterday and they said mine should be sent out the beginning of next week so I'll keep my fingers crossed. The guy I talked to at LoD said they've been getting behind but just hired a few more people so hopefully in the future they wont be as backed up in making there products. I ordered them directly from LoD. I probably should have checked other companies like Northridge to see if they had them in stock and gotten them faster that way maybe. I'm sure it will be worth the wait though. I just hate waiting.

Thanks for the write up, that will be useful. Anyone in the Salt Lake area want to come over and help me? 12 pack of your favorite beer in return?

Very strange that on the Northridge site the 2dr sliders are more expensive than the 4dr sliders

That doesn't make sense to me as the 2dr version must use 80% of the material of the 4dr version or maybe even less. Plus the shipping should be much lower due to decreased length. On the LoD site the 2dr version doesn't show up at all. Are the 2dr just produced less and considered more custom, driving up the price I guess?

Weird...anyway they look good, I would love a set, I'm super paranoid about my rockers being damaged. Maybe later this year.

I know that northrige is constantly trying to make deals with vendors for lower prices. Some are based on volume projected and some are just at the whim of the vendor. Dave is really good at passing the savings along. Not sure how he makes much money but it is good for us!!

I'll sell you my stock rubicon rails if your worried about yours getting damaged. I'm going to have to sell mine once I get the new ones to help me pay for em.
