four hours of fabricating, less than 50$. I used 1/4" x 2" bar stock and 3/16" diamond plate. I was under the Jeep yesterday and saw that a chip of plastic rib had already been broken off of the evap box so I figured that some protection was in order.

What is the Evap can for?

 

I'm not sure but it's conected to the gas tank so I would assume that if it gets busted you're probably not going much further.
Actually some where there is another thread with a good explination of it's function. I just can't think of where it is.

 

Its an emissions device.....captures gas fumes from the tank, filters them in charcoal, then when you start your engine, it injects them into the air intake to be burned.......ultimately saving the planet for all future generations
