Default New Headrest Handle

OK Guys
I’m at it again.
My Mom was getting in my JK and she was looking for a way to pull herself in. I told her I was working on it.

I didn’t like the straps hanging on the speaker bar b/c it hits people in the head when they don’t use it getting in and it hangs a little low.
So at work I ordered handles from McMaster and had my machine shop make me aluminum bars.
And Vua-la.
Mind you it did cost more than ordering straps- $5-$40
Antimicrobial Pull Handles Handles part # 6298A78 $13.30 Each
4- M8x 35 Hex Socket Bolts Stainless Steel- had to buy 25 @ $13.41
2- custom Bar Stocks $50

Total= $78-80

But looks and works great!!

am i missing somthing? Why not just grab the top of the seat or the headrest itself?

But you did make them very nice.

My Mom's reach isn't that long. Chinese- Plus no grip on a big headrest, her hand would just slip and if she did try and grab the headrest or top of the seat and lost her grip while pulling herself up, the fall back would be greater. This way she has a handle that doesn't sway back and forth and her hand will fit right in and be able to pull up with ease.

I think they look great! What a good idea. My mom rides in the back of mine about once every six weeks. I have the Sahara steps, but she still has trouble getting in. When I get my rock rails, I think she will have an even harder time. I can definitely see how a handle like that would help.

If you want a set- I can have my machine shop make another set of bars for what I paid $50 + shipping or if you want me to put a whole set together I can do it for you for $90 shipped. I figure $10 for shipping.

You can order 2 or the grab handles from Chesapeake Light Craft and mount them on the headrest for $17.05 shipped.
Ignor the "vest" seat cover.

I'm sure yours work great for you, or your Mother, but $90 is alittle steep for a handle.

I know its steep- I built it on a whim. I bet if I sent the bars to China to mass produce I can get it for under $30-$35 but I would have to buy 1000 of them

Not trying to hijack, but BJeepJK, where did you find those vest seat covers?
