Default Possible fix for soft-top & hard top leaks

Not sure if it's been suggested yet, but try Sil-Glyde available from NAPA Auto Parts (Part #765-1351) It's silicone-based and has a consistency much like that of vaseline and repels water, but it's safe for your rubber seals. I applied it to all the rubber (mainly the header seal between the windshield and panels, along with the center seam where the two panels meet over the driver and passenger. It creates a very nice seal on everything. Recommended that all freedom top and soft top owners give it a try. It also helped dampen the very very slight wind noise that I get on my freedom top when driving at interstate speeds. Definitely worth the 5 bucks. It also solved the problem of my hard top panels rattling when going over every bump in the road.

See if it works for you. Works like a charm for my freedom top. If I would've found out about it sooner, I would have tried it for the soft top. Will try it in the spring.

I have it, and it works. (I only use it on the hard top) Wouldnt want to use it on the soft top because you will get it all over the place when you lower the top.

It doesnt harden. it doesnt drip, but it does turn a little bit yellow when it gets old..

I like it and keep it in my glove box.

The stuff is made for stopping squeaks when you do brake jobs... its safe for the rubber seals.

I went through the auto car wash today (the kind with the felt pieces that go over the car and the brushes, etc) and I had a little bit of excess on the front of the header seal and it's still there. This stuff seems to be really good. Definitely good for rubber seals.

It doesn't harden over time and it's non-gumming. Seems to be really good stuff.

This whole thing seems like a stickey situation.

Sounds good, but sounds like it will be more of a mess since it doesnt harden... Got any ideas that will build up the seals a bit more but will harden?

Question, how easy is it to remove the top and to remove it from the seal? Do you need to scrap it off or are you able to peal it off?

Sounds great. I've got to get some for my hardtop today. That towel on my dash is really looking ugly.
