Rear cargo tiedown anchors
I looked at 3 '08 Rubicon Unlimiteds at the dealer in Bangor, Maine. One had 4 tie downs in the cargo area, and 2 had none. No mention of tie downs in any of the paperwork on each vehicle. The dealer is looking into ordering a set. No price info, yet.
[QUOTE=gpwpat;36940]while loading up the back of my new JK unlimited, I noticed I had no place to anchor down my cargo net. I use this to keep things in the back. In the city it keeps strollers where they belong in case of an accident. In the trail it keeps things from shifting and in their place.

Hey, I have that Jeep stroller too!

The Mopar part number for the Jeep tie downs is 55361485AA. The dealer got 4 of them for me @ $2.50 each. There are holes with rubber plugs at each corner of the cargo bay in my JK Unlimited Rubicon. The aft right one is occupied by the sub-woofer aft mount bolt. The tie down goes under that nut.
I am working on getting the part number for the riv-nuts for the other 3 tie downs.
The dealer parts guy said Chrysler dropped the tie downs in the Wrangler for liability reasons. Chrysler resisted letting the parts guy order them, but ended up allowing it. If he cannot get the proper riv-nuts and bolts, I will use commercially available parts.

See the attached pictures for details of tie down installation. These are all the parts which should have been installed in the Wrangler at the factory. The parts guy said Chrysler Engineers told him they were left out for liability reasons. He could not explain why all the other Jeep models have tie downs.
I pulled the rivnuts with an all-thread bolt, washer under the head, and a long piece of thin steel under the washer to help keep the rivnut from spinning. The rivnut is hexagonal, in a hexagonal hole, but I wanted to make sure it would not spin during installation.

The original poster's solution is a little cheaper than mine. I have about $21 in factory parts.

ronjenx, much thanks for chasing down those part numbers. I'm going to call the Part Dept. and my dealer and see how fast they can get these in. My trip to Moab is just a few weeks away and these would come in really handy to keep things in place.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Also, TSLtrek says his dealer indicated the rivnut part number has changed to 6509106AA. I don't know if these are the same rivnuts.
