I am wondering if there is an easier way than all straight up to the battery, if there is a hot wire near the back to tap into.

For instance, I want to have a plug (large two prong plug) in the back to run an inverter, compressor, or whatever. So, I have run a 4ga. wire to the back, protected by a 70 amp fuse at the battery end.
If I decide to connect a 12 volt socket to the 4ga. wire in the rear, I would figure the amperage I want it to handle, and connect the appropriate gage wire, with an appropriate fuse at the connection, to protect the wire that goes to the socket.
