Rear Power Outlet Install
Here is a write up I did for a rear 12V power outlet I just installed in the subwoofer box. I used a flush mount outlet from radio shack (about $10) and some 8ga wire. I used 8 because I plan on running the wire to a rear fuse box and then running the outlet and other accesories off of the fuse box.
Here are some pics:
First I removed the sub box from the Jeep and then removed the speaker
I then drilled a 1" hole in the box for the outlet and drilled a smaller hole in the back of the sub box to route the wires through
Since I had the box out and it was scuffed up a bit, I gave it a light sanding and bedlined it
I then ran the 8 ga wire down the passenger side of the Jeep in the existing wire loom for all the stock wires. Once up front I ran it through the passenger side hole in the firewall to the battery

A fuse, properly sized for the wire gage and its length, should be installed at the battery end of the wire.
Fuses are installed to protect the wire run, rather than the load.
