Rigid back up lights
Into the brake housing, no because it doesn't matter if water gets into the housing because the trim you drill into is just a trim around the light. It doesn't penetrate the brake light.
I used the factory wiring grommet to run the wiring.
Into the brake light or into the jeep body?

I agree with him, i didnt use the rigid industries lights or brackets, rather made my own, but ive had no issues with water leaking into the brake lights, only issues i have with stuff getting to the brake lights is the crappy insert protecting the lights from the spray off the rear wheels.

I have a pair of the srm diffused and the rigid brake light mount kit too, I haven't installed it yet, this weekend perhaps, but I was thinking maybe a little silicone to plug the entry hole. If I remember correctly (when installing trailer wiring harness) the electrical connectors to the tail lights are exposed with the only seal being how flush and tight the light housings fit to the body. I figure if you drill to allow for the wire it will also allow for moisture, rain, etc. to get in too?
heres a picture with what i am talking about, the yellow is what you notch out.
the red is the actual light housing you DONT drill
