Rugged Ridge Light Bar Install
Bar came in yesterday came well packaged and shipped great. Actually Northridge and the guys pricematched another shop and got it to me. Thumbs up for the guys at Northridge.
Here's the bar still wrapped and out of the box.
Removed the plastic and here is what's underneath.

Started by pulling off the windshield brackets on the side of the jeep and fishing my lightbar power wires through the seal on the bottom of the window.

Installed the brackets on the passenger and drivers side...

Then with the help of the neighbor slid the pipes together. It was a pretty tight fit, but some elbow grease got it together.

Wiring will be another day..I don't get out of softball practice with the girls until 6pm most nights. I have 55watt HIDs in the IPF968's with 35watt HID headlights and 35watt HID spots on the bumper.
The light bar looks awesome, look forward to seeing some daytime pics of it. Nice write up. What was the cost of the bar ? Do you have any whistling up above due to the lights or the bar being up there ? What's your feeling of it so far ? How many lights can you put up there ? The one typical thing I remeber of all light bars in the past is that they rusted, how do you see the ends, welds, and openings surviving against the elements ? Did you have to remove the hinges on the windsheild in order to install and what happens in a case where someone has the windsheild light brackets on will they have to loose them now ?
I paid 179 for the bar shipped. I haven't gotten much long distance driving, but in the 2 mile commute to work I got up to 55 mph with a 20mph head wind and didn't hear any. Plus it actually DOES reduce the soft top wind noise. My safari top (yeah I know it's 38¤ outside) is much quiter with it on. You can Mount 5 lights up there, I have 2 so far up there and it looks a bit odd. Exterior wise the powdercoat is pretty good, HOWEVER if you look inside the pipes, there IS bare metal. I don't know any way around that. You can't powdercoat the inside as far as I know. At least not cheaply. I do expect it to rust, but I should get atleast 4 years out of it. You do remove the windshield hinges. Rugged Ridges install directions SAY that it will work with Their mirror reloco brackets, problem is, I just sold mine because I was not happy with them. WHen you're under 6' the passenger is useless.

I've got the same one but haven't put it on yet, still in the box. Maybe spray some rust blocker paint on the inside and let it dry before you run the wires through it? You've sure got me thinking about what to do since I live in the north with the salt on the roads in the winter. My jeep went from green to almost white this winter.
