I found a great way to fill my 2" gap while making it water-tight/resistant, heat resistant, super durable and excellent sound dampening after the dealership replaced my entire clutch assembly this week. Since they had to pull the tranny they also removed my initial quick Great Stuff foam job which expanded all over the top of the tranny (out of sight but sloppy work for me). So I took the opportunity to properly fix my first attempt of sealing the 2" gap from my BDS BodyLift. On my JK I had to completely remove my inner-boot even after trimming as some have on this site, it just popped out and I wanted a way to keep water, heat, elements from coming in the jeep, the gap cutting of the inner boot does not keep the elements out.
Parts:
(1) empty 1 gal water jug
(1) can of Great Stuff from Home Depot: $5.00

Remove the center console

Basic shape of the OEM silencer that you will be replicating the shape of around the shifter housing on top of the tranny on the 1 gal jug.

The bottom square is approx 3-1/2" x 4" and the height of the cut jug is around 3-1/2" give or take a little is fine. Be sure and clean the tranny area and about an 1" of the bottom of the body tube around the shifter opening with some brake cleaner or something that'll give you a good hot surface.

Fold and insert from inside the Jeep over the shifter handle and place over the square shifter housing on the tranny, I'm not sure which side was 4" or 3-1/2" I imagine the longitudal part of the tranny square is 4".

Initially on the BL install I had to Dremel a small section on mine to keep from hitting. I also heat/bent the shifter handle to the correct geometry for adequate shifter clearance for the sheetmetal, upper boot and non-knuckle hitting radio console.

The infamous Great Stuff

Start filling slow and evenly the bottom of the water jug ensuring coverage next to the tranny (aluminum body for the shifter tower) and the jug itself. Continue layer upon layer while it's wet until you get to the top of the tub.

After filling find something else to do for a few hours to let it dry/cure/expand/etc.

Who remembers Jiffy Pop?

Under Jeep views of the setup, this time my Great Stuff foam was contained with a very minute of seepage which I just broke off once cured (tiny amount). The jug is fine in place here, just leave it.

Once fully cured simply take a long knife and trim flush with the body tub inside the Jeep. Also trim accordingly for all the gear shift positions.

That's all their is to it, water-tight, heat resistant, super durable, stupendous sound dampening and much better than the stock inner boot and OEM sound damper that just sits their doing nothing once you do a bodylift.
The End...

Thanks, no issues at all, even the tranny vent on the front drivers side of the shifter tower still functions as well as with the OEM silencer does. The foam just pulls off with a little effort. I used a knife to make the cuts just because it does a cleaner job than ripping the pieces off.
