This is awesome. I have done the home done flat fender job, and have been wanting to do the VDP Bumper cap. Its not that this way is cheaper. This just looks way better. Thanks!

 

Or just pay 60$ for the kit!!!!!!! I think it looks better then the homemade stub.

 

Great write up. I didn't exactly measure as meticulously as the OP. I'm more of an eyeball guy but really like the way it came out.

It's unfinished but I wanted a little more of a stubby instead of the little caps

 

I'm suprised that some company has'nt come out with a stubby "stock" style bumper cover yet. They could make two versions. One with end caps and one without. That way there'd be no rivits or seems.

I just can't make up my mind if I like them with the rivited stubby ends.

How did you bond then end caps back to the bumper? And which winch do you have. I'm obsessed with your bumper.

 

I used a 60 min epoxy and a 2 part epoxy putty, both made by loctite. I bought them at lowes. I used a ratcheting strap as a clamp to keep the ends tight until they set up. then used the putty to fill the seams. sand and paint. The winch is a Smitty 8000 w/ synthetic cable.
