I lined the table tray with 1/8 tempered Masonite for a clean surface.

Thank you for the nice comments. It was fun to make, FREE, and it makes good space from a unused area.

 

Hey just a side note, if you have the gear panel you will need to trim this to fit. Leave the panel about a inch longer on the sides you have cut, then fold this edge under so when you rivet it in place it will have a double layer of the canvas material to go through for strength and appearance.
I also upgraded the main hinge attached to the table using 1/4" threaded bar with spacers and lock nuts.

Here is a picture of the wing nut latch, this seems to work well, no rattles.
