Lightbulb Tighten Your Rollbar Bolts to Fix Some Squeeks, Rattels And Creaks

After 3 years and some good abuse my 09 JKU CRD was starting to sound a bit rattly and squeaky around town so I thought it would help to check all the bolts on the roll cage. It was super easy and only took a few minutes but WOW what a difference.

Several of the bolts I was able to get a full 2 turns on and they all needed at least a 1/2 turn. My jeep feels tighter to drive, no more rattles going over rough roads and no creaking going in my driveway.

There are 6 bolts on the front, 2 on each side were the sun visors mount and 1 on each side on the A pillar. (These front ones are shown in the manual under folding the windshield)

4 bolts on the B pillar, 2 on each side you can see them if you unzip the padding
I also tightened up the smaller bolts holding on the sound bar.

4 bolts at the C pillar and this is were I had the loosest bolts. unzip the padding a bit and have feel. One is easy to get to, the other with the hard top on was harder due to clearance on the hardtop but with a box end wrench it was easy.

Thanks for the info. I'll be checking this when I get home as well. Locktite might be a good idea too.

Thanks for the info, mines an 08 and have lil squeks and rattles and figured it was the rough country lift taking my jeep apart lol. Gonna have to check them bolts, I know the front ones have come loose before because I could tell. But there is a sound I hear near the b-pillar area that bugs me and I can figure out, now I know. Hope this fixes my problems

The B-Pillar knock is probably the door latch. Do a search there are a bunch of threads on the fix for it.
