Under-Floor Storage
I went with the OP's design and left out the seat flaps figuring I'll never sleep in it (That's what tents and hammocks are for).
Picked up a lock from Lowe's. drilled a 1/2'' hole in front 2x4 for the pushlock to enter.

A 50 Force, 15.63" Extended Length, 6.30" Stroke gas shock and mounting hardware from mcmasters. Took two tries to find the right spot so it lifts the lid by itself at about half height.

I bought a truck replacement dome light to mount on the inner lid since it has a half shield to keep it out of your eyes, will mount it soon. Also have L brackets to attack to rear seat bolts. Carpet was from walmart and just needs vacuuming to get the discolored lines out. Cameraphone doesn't do it justice, the carpet actually matches pretty well.
I cut the lid to match the curvature of the sides and rear door so when closed it looks more like the floor.

So I can still throw groceries on top and keep things out of site and under lock.

I'll bet you eventually add the front panels, though. The full flat floor comes in handy for a lot more than sleeping.
I've put stuff I rarely use in the under floor storage area, but is still only a 10 min job to undo a few bolts to lift it up far enough to get to what I need.
I can pack camping gear or anything else I need into the back now and you can't even see it.
took about 5 hours, cost about $25 with bits of left over timber and frontrunner

I did the underfloor storage project some time ago and added a modification to attach child seats on top of it against the tailgate for hauling grandkids. I just drilled holes for eyebolts and used motorcycle tie-downs to fasten the child car seats to the top of the raised platform. With this mod you can use the existing seating for five and have additional seating for two children. I have also recently attached brackets for a third seat (purchased at a yard sale for $50 that is for on older Jeep back seat) and have replaced the motorcycle tie downs with seat belts. When the grandkids outgow the car seats they will use the third seat. I haven't taken photos of the new seat set-up, but can if anyone is interested.
I really like the under-floor storage mod and have purchased an SUV air-mattress from Walmart that is just right for sleeping in the back. I've only tried it out once, so far, but it worked great. Had a tent for the grand-kids and grandpa slept in the Jeep.
