Alaska BS thread
I think I've seen your rig - let me know if you need help as well . You heard anything about Military Jeepers? Hahah driving up hillberg - wow that is ballsy! But sounds soooo fun!
I haven't heard anything about any military Jeepers. I've noticed that most people on base have them from deployment money. It's especially true on the Army side. On average I get one for every four waves back.
I got the rest of my instructions for the lift, now I just need my large drill bits and cat-back exhaust to arrive. With the amount of cutting and drilling I'm going to take this nice and slow. Once the old control arm mounts are off there is no going back and this is my daily driver.
It'll be a busy week when I tackle it, long arm conversion, new shocks and springs, new track bars, new drive shafts and a new exhaust.

I live on post near the side gate - only minutes away. Yeah I still wave at the same jeeps in hopes they might realize "hey why do they keep waving at me?" But for the most part I agree. Talked to a buddy here - we are planning a run - about 126 mile type for next year so I am prepping mine now for it. Might be doing a short run this weekend as well - I am still waiting on the group to get back to me with the info. Short trip to about 4500 feet with multiple types of obstacles that you can choose to go through or around ending with a camping event that night on top of the mountain.
I'm working on my BS and trying to get a handle on a new job, my attention is divided right now. I've had a lift kit sitting on my garage floor for two months already that I still need to install. I didn't even start figuring out what I needed until the 4th of July weekend, where I was hoping to install it.
My new Coast front drive shaft didn't come with the u-bolt hardware but Dave at Northridge is sending it. It wasn't a show stopper, I have no issues driving without a front D/S for now but it was annoying.
I *did* however get an amazing deal on four old school jerry cans on Sunday.
I've been trying to get two of them for months. Going to re-seal them and maybe re-paint them, don't know yet.

Yeah you sound busy - definitely give me a shout when you need help with the install. I am going on leave here local for the next week and a half so I will have time available to lend a hand.
Good timing, during our exercise. I will probably take leave in August. I really need to get this kit installed and aligned. I haven't done any camping yet this year and summer is dwindling fast.
I'll PM you with my number - there is a run to Sutton this weekend with the Military Jeepers group that is forming the ride. I plan on camping this weekend or next while I am on leave - just haven't identified where yet and want to avoid all the friggen RVs and tourists.
Of course I have a ton more photos. Great trip and awesome group! We'll be doing another run in a few weeks. Maybe we can coordinate it during your leave...easy weekend run if not.
