Alaska BS thread
We'll I'm Lookin forward to keeping it in 4wd for a few months lol
I have been here five years and haven't used studs on my Jeep yet. I keep her in four wheel drive during most of the winter and don't have any issues. Icy conditions suck with either although, the studs do give you an edge. I use studded tires for all my other non-Jeep vehicles.
Ya I haven't seen the law my self that's just what I was told . But when is it gonna get cold I just moved here from Germany and its in the low 20 there and snowing I wanna snowboard it's been like 6 months !
Third winter here with the Jeep for me and refuse to run studs. It's just not "Jeepy". I had the stock Rubicon tires siped and they were great. I have the Wrangler MTRs with Kevlar sidewalls and they worked like a dream last winter. I just air down to 18 and call it good. I do use 4-hi a lot, especially at lights/stop signs.
Growing up here I had a 1969 chevelle 300 deluxe (4-door) and could only afford like 3 studs per tire. Never wrecked it or lost complete control.
Studs aren't the end-all answer. Be mindful of the weather and road conditions, don't tailgate, don't go faster than you need to and you'll be fine.

nothing has been done to it. The only symptoms I've had was once maybe twice on startup it had trouble starting and ran rough for a few seconds. Besides that. Everything has been normal.
