Default Herculined the tub finally

Finally got some time to get this done this weekend but of course I had to deal with all the damn cottonwood trees blowing shit all over so I got some of that stuck while it was drying but it should blow out/brush out.....hopefully

What can I say about this? Shoulda done it long ago! This stuff does stink and I recommend NOT doing this in an enclosed space (garage) as I had to take breaks just to get fresh air and I was outside.

Took all off about 4-5 hours to prep/sand/scuff/tape. If you look around the Forum some folks will say the seats are a bitch to get out....not really. All it takes is to put the purse down and work smarter not harder. I used a half inch breaker bar and a two foot pipe on the end to give me the leverage to wrench the seat bolts out. Other then that it was easy and turned out pretty good

'nuff ramblin...here's some pics

the kit comes with mostly everything you need-1 gallon which was more then sufficiant for a 2dr, two rollers, a brush and a green scrubbie.

What you are gonna need to make life easier and recommended:

-paint stirrer that hooks into a drill(this stuff is thick and it makes life easier then using a stick)
-a roller pan(cheap one will do)
-Xylol for cleaning this stuff off yourself and whatever you get it on
-Blue painter's tape to mask off all areas
-a bunch of rubber gloves cause once it's on your hands it gets everywhere
-coveralls or some clothes you dont plan on wearing ever again
-twine or somthing to tie the wire bundle up and out of the way
-hit the dealership up beforehand and get the plastic fasteners for the trim...it's much easier to cut them out than saving them and I got them for 33 cents a piece
-and if you can get your hands on one, a mini sander will make the job off scuffing the tub that much quicker. You're not stripping the paint off but it's gotta be scuffed up good for the herculiner to adhere and the screubbie is good for the nooks and crannies.

I found that I did more with the brush on the first coat and you're not painting it, you're dabbing it on there. You'll know once you start. I started on the driver's side, worked my way back and around to the passenger side but defintely have a plan of attack. Pretty much as soon as you get done laying the first coat youll be starting over.

I think if you got a good weekend you can get this done but the first day will be a long one with prepping and putting the liner down. It took me about 4 hours to get both coats down. The destructions say it's ready to work with in 4-6 hours but you know how Alaska is temperature-wise. It took mine till the next day where I felt comfortable putting it all back together. Only other thing I can think of now is don't put the Jeep in a garage....your house will stink. Mine's still outside with the top off and doors off airing out and I'll probably leave it like that till I leave for Seward on Thurs.

i have said this many times before... herculining the tub is the best mod for the money. summer time i take the carpet out and turn the hose to the inside when it gets dirty! dont have to worry about moldy smelly carpets.

i spent $100 bucks and it took me 4 hours total, and damn... was and still is well worth it!

exactly why I did this. Summer time I want to be able to just hose the interior out and all I'm planning is picking some el cheapo rubber mats for the winter and hose out whenever is feasible.
