how many AK guys do we have? should have a meet.
Hey guy...welcome to the forum. It's interesting that you checked in now, as me and a buddy are trying to go down to Kodiak for a deer hunt. Everything is so freekin expensive. Do you hunt? Any ideas? Mainly trying to find a cheap way to get from Homer to Kodiak and back. I guess the Tustumena ferry is down?
Thanks...
Thanks...
Yeah it is expensive. Only cheap way to get from Homer to Kodiak and back is...swimming. The Tusty is back up now (cuz it's been a month since you posted this!). Ya just gotta deal with the costs.
My last hunt was a successful black bear hunt on Cordova in 2004. Haven't pulled a trigger since then. Spend most of my time fishing or working on the rigs.
Did you guys make it down?
Sorry, I just noticed your post...!

PS......I met a guy that used to guide for trophy blackies out of Valdez. Something about the habitat over there that really produces some amazing bears. Hides are incredible....
I know with the nice weather and all, it's hard to not want to get out on the trail. But for the most part, it's still pretty early in break-up. Of course it depends on where you go, but for the most part right now you'll find waaaaaay too much slop. I learned the hard way this time of year a long time ago. And that was even in my CJ with bad ass tires. I buried her bad is some deep ass mud. And that was in a place that I go all the time easily.
