Thanks...
Sorry, I just noticed your post...!

Yeah it is expensive. Only cheap way to get from Homer to Kodiak and back is...swimming. The Tusty is back up now (cuz it's been a month since you posted this!). Ya just gotta deal with the costs.

My last hunt was a successful black bear hunt on Cordova in 2004. Haven't pulled a trigger since then. Spend most of my time fishing or working on the rigs.

Did you guys make it down?

Nope....never did. Just can't justify paying around $2k to go kill 3 small deer. Hell I think I paid around that much to go to CO. to kill a bull elk. We actually found a couple good deals for staying in a cabin for a few days, or even an "everything taken care of" hunt from a boat. But it really just comes down to the added extra price of air fair from hear to there. It's total bs....

PS......I met a guy that used to guide for trophy blackies out of Valdez. Something about the habitat over there that really produces some amazing bears. Hides are incredible....

I know with the nice weather and all, it's hard to not want to get out on the trail. But for the most part, it's still pretty early in break-up. Of course it depends on where you go, but for the most part right now you'll find waaaaaay too much slop. I learned the hard way this time of year a long time ago. And that was even in my CJ with bad ass tires. I buried her bad is some deep ass mud. And that was in a place that I go all the time easily.
