Default Who likes or dislikes tail light guards?

For me I like tail light guards and believe they serve a purpose of adding a more rugged look. Other than that I'm not sure what else they do.

Light guards do look nice but taking them out wheeling is a bad idea. I bought some Mopar ones because I like how they look. Went wheeling and slid ever so slightly into a clay bank- corner damage. Without the guards, I would have cracked a light which isn't a big deal since I have two extras. The corner damage will be there until I get corners.

So aesthetically- great. As actual 'protection'- not recommended.

I agree, they will transfer damage into the body for sure.

Put me in the DNL catagory.. came on the pre-owned JKU .. took them off at home immediately.. they attached using same screws as the tail light .. I do not think they would do much protecting. Just MO.

I like them on Jeeps. It's why I installed them on my Jeep.

Rear view brake light guards

I like the look of them, had them in mine when I had the stock tails. But, i can see how they would cause a problem on jks as they are thicker than the body sheet metal, and don't really attach well.

I like the way they look. I have a set because I got them for basically nothing. As far as protection I imagine they actually might do more harm than good in a significant impact. In a moderately low impact they might serve to protect the light some.

They look good though in my opinion. I would think a headlight guard would be more purposeful. Something like what Mark Doiron has on his. It would actually keep rocks from hitting the light housing.
