Good to hear. It definitely seems to be well built and that synthetic rope and wireless remote is a great plus.

I went with the Alloy Chromoly ones, they set me back $675 total.

I've actually got another thread going, my hope is to get them installed next Saturday. That should get me back up and rolling.

I just figured the RCVs are:

a) more expensive up-front, and this was an unplanned expensive.
b) put a risk of something (more expensive than a u-joint/axle shaft) being my weakest link

Those two things are kind of the pivotal reasons I went with a Chromoly axle instead of the RCV ones.

Yeah, a winch and new front bumper are high on my want list.

snowbilt, what brand and model is your winch?

Good choice . Given the fact that you're staying with the D30, this would definitely be the better option. I think after long and serious consideration, I've decided that eventually, when I can afford it, a PR44 will be gracing the front of my JK . So, that also means that regearing and lockers are on hold (originally had those as planned mods for this year).

Looks like we'll be postponing our mod/lift party from this Sunday to a later date when the weather clears up some - hopefully soon.

Definitely a good investment - those Recon winches are sure impressive looking, and for the buck, definitely not a bad option. I love my Superwinch, but having synthetic instead of wire rope sure cuts down on some weight.

Yeah, this is more of a "medium term" fix for me. 3 to 5 years down the road, who knows, I might do the whole D44 thing myself. But right now, its entirely a non-option... heck if I could afford that

I used my winch again today, a toyota tundra( 4 door ) buried in a deep ditch. It pulled my jeeps front end down quite a bit, as I was reeling "in" it would run for awhile and then just stop, I would wait a little bit and it would work again it did this about 10 times. I thought it was the relay but it is puzzling and I would really like to get it figured out in case of emergency situation. any ideas ????

and congrats Jason on making the decision on the axles

I saw ups out today but they didn't come by here to drop off my packages maybe tomorrow

I thought of that, but I'll be working that day. Unfortunately, working at a dealership has its drawbacks - Saturdays are generally our busy days, and don't get that off that often. But looks like you're in good hands with the shaft install . Plus, TORN already has all the tools necessary for the driveshaft install having done that himself recently. I just wish the weather would ease up here soon, so life can somewhat return to normal for a lot of folks.

Talking of the shaft, did you get a chance to pop the differential to see if there was any damage done to the R&P or lockers?

Nope... not yet. I can't even get my Jeep in the garage, there is feet of snow right in front of it. Not ideal for working on it, plus I wouldn't want to empty the diff until it's in the garage.

The way I figured it, I needed an axle regardless. I will pop the diff ASAP, but odds are it's a-ok. And if it's not, then nothing lost, I still end up ordering the same amount of stuff.... or at least thats what I keep telling myself
