He has no tools, and his friend just showed up with tools to help him... no update on whats wrong or what they've tried...

Does anybody have his cell #? It might be good if someone called him to see if everything was going well.

I'm back home. The Jeep is at my friend's home. We towed it there. I will deal with this in the morning. You can read in the other thread what we tried. Because of the way the dash lights are acting, this does not seem like a starter system problem--more of a steering column electrical problem. I was dreading clockspring, but maybe it will turn out to be something like a loose connection. I'll see in the morning. Meanwhile, if anyone has any other ideas please post them in the other thread. Thanks again, everyone!!!

Glad to hear you made it back home. Hopefully, it'll be something simple like a pinched cable or something.

I know you guys talked about it in the other thread but it sounds like the jeep isn't recognizing the key, and unlike an auto which would instantly die when you take it out of park the manual should only die when the clutch is engaged.
