Talking of fluid changes, I need to do my Automatic Transmission & Transfer Case fluid change here soon. Seeing as I went with Royal Purple on my Differential Fluids, I'll probably go with Royal Purple Max ATF for both.

plain ole Valvoline. my thought behind it is that if something did happen out on the trail or in the middle of no where I know I can get some.

I went with Mobil 1 for the engine and differentials, Valvoline synthetic for the transfer case, and Mopar whatever-or-another manual transmission fluid for the transmission.

I must say, when I switched out to the synthetic Valvoline ATF in my t-case, the transfers from 4wd to 2wd (and vica-versa) have never been smoother. That stock stuff in the t-case must have been glue.

Oh yeah, FYI to anybody in the area...

I made (a while back) a drain port tool for the manual transmission. It's something anybody could do, but it is a PITA.

If you're in need, don't hesitate to hit me up and we can work on Jeeps together. Sure beats the 4 (or so) hours I spent making my own tool

Taking my Jeep to the dealer tomorrow morning for the Auto Transmission recall/flash. And having them look at my rear locker. Doesn't seem to want to engage, and light continues flashing in the console. Might even have them remove my T-Case zip tie mod and put that back to stock as well. We'll see how it goes.

I'm still on the border on this - on the one hand, I'd like to get it done just so that if something goes wrong down the line, I can tell them "It was YOUR recall and it was done". On the other hand, knowing that the only thing this fix does is to let me know when the oil's hot and lose engine power, I'd rather keep my hot oil status unknown and have engine power when I'm out on the trail.

Hard to hijack a bs thread

Down here in Lawton, I don't have a lot of options when it comes to dealers - mod friendly or otherwise. First time I had to take it in for warranty work last year, our local Jeep dealer had been on Chrysler's list of dealers that were being terminated, so took it to Battison in Duncan. They didn't give me any grief over the mods, and the warranty issue was about a battery not holding charge and they promptly replaced it. The other issue I'd brought up to them was about the bow in the soft top header and the service advisor proceeded to tell me it's 'coz the vehicle had been taken off-road and the flexing caused the header to bow .

The next time, I needed a recall handled, we had a new Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealer in town - Lawton Chrysler Jeep Dodge by Bill Altstatt, and they promptly acknowledged the issue with the header and had it replaced under warranty and did the recall. I found them to be considerably friendlier than my encounter with Battison, but again, the recall and affected warranty items had no co-relation to the mods on the vehicle. And now that I'm out of factory warranty, but covered by a Ford Extended Service Plan, any future issues that might be covered, will remain to be seen as to how easy it goes.
