Okc jeepers??
Count me in
We just did a trip from Lawton to the Great Salt Plains, Alabaster Caverns and Little Sahara this past Sunday! Lots of rain on the way up and back down but none while we were there. Sure was a lot of fun.

birthday was last Monday, so I wanted to do something special. I enjoy climbing
mountains, but there wasn't anyone to tackle Mt. Lincoln in the Wichita
Mountains Wildlife Refuge with me. So I hiked up the road to the top of Mt.
Scott. I'd been up there quite a few times, of course, but never hiked it before.
It was sure windy! Afterwards, Curtis drove over from OU and we went to dinner
at Ann's. I love their Indian tacos and desserts!
We sure did at Little Sahara. Were there for about a couple of hours in the sand - got lost, found our way - got lost again, found our way back. It would've been more fun with a group, but the best I saw, we were the only Jeep on the dunes. There were a bunch of ATVs and Quads though. My first time on the Sand - it was fun though. Also did some Crystal digging at the Salt Plains.
And by the way, belated Happy Birthday to you Mark
Let me know the next time you're around this way, and we'll go out to the Refuge again. 'Course, here soon, it'll start getting too cold.

I was at Little Sahara all day sat. with the kids riding the Quads it's our 3rd time up and I'm sore as He** at 46 I don't keep up with teenagers like I used to. When I fall now days I break instead of bounce
Next time up I'll be taking the Jeep along too.

An hour and a half from your home: Charon's Garden (pronounced "karen") in
the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. No four wheeling, though. But last fall I
was awakened at 3:30 a.m. as two elk bulls were bugling each other, then the
next morning we awoke at sunrise with a small herd of bison drinking from the
pond we were camped near. It's my favorite place in the state (yes, even better
than Disney).
