$1000 to spend....
So, my new JKU is doing great on the beach and minor trails, and its still stock. I will eventually want more out of it on the trails, but its great for now. It's my daily driver so I want all of my early mods to be focused on things that will also make it a better vehicle for gas mileage but will also help down the road when its converted into an offroad toy.

Not sure if GB94 is the only non-asshole or actually understood the post, regardless, thanks! The other posts sound like insecure hummer owners. I'm not rich and want to enjoy EVERYTHING about my jeep. That means when I take it on a trail, take it all over the outer banks n Carolina Beach, take it around the farms n fields, AND take it to work everyday. I want my jeep with me everyday. And if u read my post, I'm looking for creative options to increase horse power in ways that will BOTH help on a trail and highway. I'm not looking a prius. If you increase efficiency of air intake, chips, air resistance, back pressure.... all of these things help on the trail n highway. I'm in love with every part of my jeep and don't have to feel shame and grab my crotch to feel better about myself. Lol. For those of u with full jeep pride, thanks!

Umm, kinda hard to increase gas milage much on this thing. A flashpaque may help abit, throw a k&n filter in and change to a flowmaster muffler. This will give you a better throttle response, but in turn makes u wanna get on it more. If you can be disciplined enuf to not dog it , you may see a couple mpg increase. Other than that, not much you can do with a rolling underpowered brick that the jk is. Just like all the jeeps before it, the shear non aerodynamic design of jeeps make them extremely poor milage vehicles.
I've gone a different route to help gain some MPG. I am removing a bunch of stuff to lighten the Jeep up. I removed the spare tire and mount. When I go somewhere more than a few miles from home I just strap it in the back. I also removed the rear seat since I have a two door and almost no one sits back there. I will eventually buy a Trektop to replace the hard top. I am going to remove the carpet this weekend to see how I like it without the carpet. I will probably get some two-piece soft doors also.
We aren't being assholes, we have simply seen enough threads exactly like yours to know that it's a JEEP, a brick on wheels, and not some little economy car. Are there ways to improve fuel economy? Sure. Common sense answers like keep off the gas and proper tire inflation and remove excess weight. Any of the add-ons seem to be Minimal gains for Maximum dollars. And not a single one is guaranteed to improve your mileage. Is $1000 worth a gain of .05 mpg? You'll see people talking about the 1-2mpg gains from a $350 Flashpaq. You will also see people saying they got no improvement, or their mpg's went down. Will it be worth it to you? No clue. Same with headers. And filters. And...
