my '07 X did not have it but my '09 Rubi does. it's model ugrade for sound deadening. That stuff won't do crap it a fire. I'd say if your someplace warm year round you really don't need it but for those of us who live in freezing temps 1/2 the year it helps.

Mine fell off in the middle of mud puddle/water forging and the only problem I ran into was that my hood gets hotter now. As matter of fact like someone said earlier, when I go into a water hole after it gets hot it will cause my hood to buckle. Then after a little while the dent pops back out until the next water hole. I guess it is really thin metal and can't handle the heat. My hood is jacked now so I don't even worry about it any more.

ps. for those who still have it, and want it. don't hit it with the pressure washer!

I had the hood liner in my jeep. To say the least I RIPPED it out!! i like using the underside of my hood for all my stickers of parts ive installed or trails ive ran! I like keeping them for the memories!! Prolly not the best place for em but...its more discrete and i dont like my jeep clutered with stickers on the outside

remove it and spray the underside of the hood with high heat paint, like for exhaust or headers
