a BL has no disadvantages aside from that if you go too big, your tub looks like it's hovering. people have been discussing the physics of the longer bolts being sheared for ages, and while, yes, it is definitly a sound theory, if you are going that fast in your rig, you are going too fast to begin with. i.e., germany will allow up to a 3" body lift on jeeps. germans are a little insane with their vehicle laws, due to loosely enforced speed regulations on the portions of the highways that even have them.
going high can lead to shifting problems. 1" generally doesn't (and i've been informed that due to the new shifter linkage in the JK, won't at all), and i was told that it doesn't even need a MML?
stumpman79: nice rig. you should go to home depot and rig up some clear lenses for your signals. that'd look hot. DoT be damned!

That's probably the best response to 'the body lift question' I've ever heard. It's all a matter of taste. 90% of the horror stories you hear are "I know a guy who said..." or something of the sort. There's also the argument that a bl adds no physical lift of the stuff that's gonna get hung up but with the ability of using larger tires, that is also shot down. Pretty much, if you don't wanna see the frame > don't do it! If a lil' frame doesn't bother you > go ahead!! It's an easy way to clear a tad bigger meat !

I've done a 1" body lift on 3 of 5 of my Jeep's. I alway's went with 1 inch any thing more and it looks like it is sitting on pop cans. With the 1 inch most people couldn't even see the puck's but noticed it being higher.

5" Skyjacker/1" M.O.R.E. Body lift w/ 37x13.50-18's. I measured before and after and the actual lift height is 5 3/4".

I am new to lifts, but isnt a 1" body lift the best way to install a 33"-34" tire and keep the stock suspension? Seems like this would be smarter than messing with your suspension for just a little extra clearance.

Am I right?

it would give you a little more stuff room for a tire, yes. depending on the width, you still may have rubbing issues.

all told, it's a cheap way to get a little clearance, easily tossed on in an afternoon.

Im putting a heavy duty bumper in the front with a winch and a heavy duty bumper in the rear w/tire carrier... with all that extra weight the height is going to come down a bit so I got the body lift just to make sure clearance is good. I had to do some minor trimming reguardless. One inch does make a difference.

Is this a testimony for or against?

My take on it is if you can tear the front up that badly, & still keep the body from becoming a magic carpet, well good enough.

On the other hand maybe all the mounts would have been fine without the body lift. Who knows?
