12' soft top on an 08'?

Default 12' soft top on an 08'?

I might be able.to buy a new top off a friend with tinted windows but the top is coming off a 2012 will it fit on my 08?

The '12 top will fit on your '08 with no problems. However, you must use the all of the '12's hardware, ie. door surrounds, side windows, rear window, etc. Mixing and matching parts from different years is only asking for trouble.

In '10 they introduced the cable version, (which is much better, imo), but its fits just the same. You can reference the the following thread:

The only real difference on the jeep is the halo hoop being offset in the '11 and '12 models, which has no bearing/effect of the soft top, only the hard.
