Default 13.5" wide tire???

I'm entertaining the idea of running a 35x13.5" wide tire on a 15x10 inch rim. I love the way it looks and could really use the extra flotation I'd get in the sand. I've read a lot of good things about the Toyo M/T's

This will be on a 6 spd Rubi 4 door w/ either 4.88's or even 5.13's.

I'd like to hear some opinions on this combo if anyone out there is running it.

Q: does the extra rolling resistance/weight effect your mileage/acceleration much more than a 12.5 wide tire?

Q: does the extra sidewall soften the ride any?

Q: is there too much of a "sqishy" feel on the highway?

Any and all opinions welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Only thing I noticed between a 12.50 and a 13.50 is that I got more of a right hand pull than before. I run then on 17x8 rims though.

What do you think is causing the pull?

Is it the tread or is it exacerbating an existing alignment problem somehow?

I dunno, my Coopers 35x12.50 didn't pull at all these Toyo 37x13.50's are alot heavier. Alignment was good. May have just amplified what I didn't notice before because I have more rolling mass. It's in the shop now , I got t-boned, will get another alinement after its fixed.

I have 37x13.50 on 20x9 with 4.5 BS. I love the look too. I have a 5" lift. There is minor rubbing on the front control arms. as long as your wheel has 4.5 BS you will be OK. Mine feels OK at 80 on the interstate. As for mileage, don't know. i dont check it. Never have, never will. It wont affect my driving style, habit or frequency, so why bother. If it needs gas, put it in it. Thats my motto. If I was worried about mpg, I woulda got a prius or something.

I think thats what made me notice it more, cause i can get in the center of the road, no pull, and on the interstate there is alot less pull. Its not bad enough for me to worry about as long as my tires are wearing well, which they are.

Thanks for the replies guys. The wheels I'm now looking at have 3 3/4 backspacing so I suppose that'll be OK.

Just when I think I've got it all figured out, I learn somethin' new.

yes...I'm sure you do, but IMO his will look WAAAAY different and WAAAAY better on 15" rims.......again IMO....

And to the OP......remember Toyos are really heavy. Good tires but heavy. Just the extra weight alone (even tho I don't know what you're running now) I would think would effect your mileage and acceleration...

3.75" backspacing should work fine. I run 3.5 BS on 37's with no rubbing. The toyo's are E rated tires and have very stiff side walls. I think that your drivability will be fine.
