Default 15 inch wheels on an 08 JK

I have been told by a few tire and wheel places, (not mentioning any names) that I cannot fit 15" wheels on my JK x package. It came stock with the 17" wheels and they are telling me I cannot put anything smaller on? I have been seeing alot of 15's on your rigs and am wondering if there is a difference? What am I missing? They stated even with wheel spacers my brake calipers would hit? Please help! I would rather pay and get new 15's and tires vs just 17 tires!

Thanks in advance!

I can confirm that the Cragar 15X8 4"BS wheels will fit without modification.

I think it depends on the wheel and the amount of backspacing. I initially purchased a set of Cragar Soft 8's in a 15x8, but it had 5" of backspace. It did not fit over the brake caliper. Others have put them on successfully with 4" of backspace. With the right wheel and backspacing, it should not be a problem.

Trial and error may be the solution

i have cragar soft 8's in 15X10 and they do not fit without spacers. they rubbed the calipers on the fronts. they fit just fine in the rears.

And my Jeep looked so new and shiny back then...

I bought part number 1864-5850, on the following page
3.25" BS These have a finish over them. I think the Mickey Thompson version looks better, but I didn't want to have to polish them.

LINK: American Eagle Series 186

Look up the MB72's from discount tire direct. 15x8 with no rubbing and they come in black or polished aluminium.

Soft 8's, 15x8 4" backspace will come in contact with the casting edge on the caliper. You have two choices either use a 1/8th wheel spacer or grind the casting line a little. 15x10's will just stick out of the fender really far. Check out our facebook page for pictures, we're running those exact rims on our jk.
