Hi All, looking to see if anyone could help diagnose what appears to be a coolant leak (pink fluid) on a 2015 JK with almost 70K miles. tiny puddle discovered a few days ago and just now had a chance to get under there and investigate. It appears this is coming from a compromised seal just above the oil pan. You can see parts of the little plastic gasket pushed out I believe. I'm not exactly sure though of what part I'm looking at?...the oil pan bolts up onto this an near the manual transmission area of the vehicle. Attached some photos for reference and looking for advice.
It's difficult to know without being there because the drip could originate higher up. For example, the leak could spray onto the block and drip down to the location in your photos. You don't see the trail higher up because it evaporates quickly due to the heat of the block.
However, it may not be coolant. Your power steering fluid is usually pink (ATF+4) and your mystery leak could be from it rather than the engine coolant. Have you observed the coolant level dropping below the normal range in your reservoir? If you remove the radiator cap (when its cool), is the coolant level at the top? If your coolant level looks okay, I'd check your power steering fluid level.
My coolant started disappearing last week in my 2010 JK Rubi. There were no puddles on my driveway and I couldn't see any leaks. So I was worried it was something serious. I took it to my mechanic and he was just as stumped as me. Then he had a closer look at the radiator and found a hairline crack in its tank. Evidently, it only leaked at full temperature and pressure. He replaced the radiator and the problem was fixed. My Rubi has 138K miles so the radiator replacement is not unusual.
