The reason I chose 15 over 16,17 or larger was partly financial. The same outside tire diameter (33 or 35) in 15 is less expensive than a 16,17...times 5 and times the number of times I replace my tires. This does add up over the life of the Jeep and I actually think the more tire small wheel also looks better. I know the trend is to have larger wheels and for those that like it good for them. It is just my personal preference.

I am new to Jeeps and make no claim of knowing much about trail and rock wheelin, but I think that a larger tire area provides more cushion when aired down to climb over obstacles. Now I will let more knowledgeable people correct me if I got this all wrong.

Yeah, what this joker said about that other joker.

actually I wouldn't recommend grinding the break calipers if you don't have to. I had to b/c I already bought the wheels and tires... but it's fine, no issues for a while now. remember my JK was built in the first month of production, and I have had a few issues that others have not. I've had a few parts and seals not be the correct ones, so it wouldn't surprise me if my front calipers and/or breaks where different then others as well. I've had some manufacturers scratching their heads b/c their parts (that were actually Jeep parts) did not fit my stuff.

I test fitted Unique 15 x 8 soft 8's, (Unique is the manufaturer of the 15x8 Cragar Soft 8's.) They were 4.00 BS and -13 offset. They would not go on without grinding the brake calipers. I ended up installing Unique simulated bead locks 15 x 8 3.75 BS with -19 offset. (these are the Crager street locks.)
and have 1/8 inch caliper clearence. I have a 07 JK Sahara Unlimited.
In my opinion only 3.75 BS with at least -19 offset is the way to go without needing spacers.

Geeper4x4. Are the tires 33X12.50 -15, or 10.5 15?

Also any problem with the tire monitoring sensors?

15x8 -19mm offset (3.75" BS) MB72 wheels

35x12.50.15 Goodyear MT

*This was a test fit, as you can tell by the Nitto's on the opposite side. The wheels cleared the brakes without spacers.

So the Cragar soft 8's 16x8 with 5" of backspacing won't work without rubbing?

Good to know. Thats the setup I wanted but I believed the seller and have 17X9's. This sucks because even though they use less rubber, they charge more for a 35X17 than a 35X15.

Don't know about grinding 1/4" off but, mine scraped just barely. I had to shave about 1/16" off the front surface. The area I ground has so much meat to it that 1/16" was really not a big deal. And, actually, most of it was extra material from the casting. JK's that have clearance issues are Rubicons, like mine.
