19mm offset - The answer to 15X8 problem?
I am about to throw down some big money on my new Jeep and don't want to buy a bunch of stuff that doesn't work.
2.5" TF BB w/ Shocks
3/4" Front Spacers
American Racing Outlaw II 15x8 , 3.75" BS, -19mm offset
BFG TA/KO 35 X 12.50 R15
From what I have read a limited number of JKs have Caliper offset issues on 15s... and from what I have read most folks that get 15s to work have a -19mm offset.
Has anyone used a -19mm offset and had it not work?
I am new here and any help would be most appreciated.
If the -19mm offset is the final solution then at least the 15X8 rim problem can finally be over.
Thanks again.

from previous post's that I have read I think I remember the offset being more like -12mm or so.
I almost bought some 15s ....... but was afraid to waste money if they didnt work. I am very happy with the 16s that I bought(Crager Soft 8)

16s and tires for them are much more expensive though...
I'm hoping that we can find a straight answer from someone... for my benifit and for all others who prefer the benifits of 15s. (wheel cost, tire cost, looks, etc)
I'm not as concerned about looks as I am about functionality and the cost of replacement tires in the future.

Yes 16's are a LITTLE bit more money for tires. I just bought a set of 16" 152's and love them. I just didnt want to deal with the risk of 15's not fitting. I know a lot of people on here are running 15's but to me there are to many people finding out that they dont fit. Just my 2 cents.
Its all about the BS, not the offset.
If you have 3.75" of BS...you are spaced pretty far back from the brakes, another 2.5" of clearance over stock.
The REAL problem was that the inboard concave part of SOME rims have ridges or other strengthening structures that protrude into the space where the brakes go, and, hit the brakes as they rotate, etc.
So - THAT's what you're trying to over come, and, 3.75" of BS WILL probably work.

For a 15 x 8 rim, with 3.75" BS and -19 mm offset, it just means:
1. The 8" rim is 9" wide (Normal, trust me)
2. The center line of that rim would therefore be at 4.5" (Halfway from either end of the 9" wide rim is 4.5" in....)
3. Thats sets Zero Offset at 4.5" (The hub face is ON the centerline = Zero Offset....)
4. We know the hub face is set back 3.75" from the outer rim edge, or 0.75" closer to the brakes than zero offset
5. To convert, its 25.4 mm per inch, so, 0.75" = 19 mm.
6. We are moving the hub face CLOSER to the brakes by that 19 mm
7. Offset is postive if the hub face is on the outside of the zero offset point, and negative if the hub face is on the inside of the zero offset point (Closer to the brakes is the inside....so, that 19 mm is a - 19 mm, as its 19 mm closer to the brakes.)

If you went and got a 15 x 9 rim, with 3.75" of BS...the BS would give the same clearance as the 15 x 8 rim...but, the offset would NOT be -19 mm anymore...that -19 mm ONLY APPLIES to the 8" nominal rim size.
I say nominal, because to confuse people...the rim size they quote is the rim width BETWEEN those lips that hold the bead of the tire...but, all of the OTHER measurements are made from the OUTSIDE, not between, these lips.

Hope that helps a little.

OK... Now that I am clearer on some parts and more confused on others...
Are there any 15x8 rims that we KNOW will work?
At this point though I'm about to just say "screw it" and just get spacers for the 17s and get the absurdly expensive 35x12.5 R17 tires.
I was just hoping that after nearly 2 years of JKs being around that there might actually be a definitive answer to something like this.
Thank you greatly for your assistance on this.

A: Most steel ones will fit without any problems and depending on the thickness of the wheel most aluminum ones will as well. The only thing you really need to make sure is that the wheel clears the brake calipers.
