2012 JK with Eaton E-locker not working but installation by 4whelparts is bad???
I paid 4wheelparts a pretty penny for the locker, switch, oil, ect...& instalation of my Eaton E-Locker. Issues so far as follows:
Purchased about 8 monts ago and the very next day after I picked up the JK from my local 4wheelparts the JK would turn off on me. Scarry to say the least since it would turn on on the street and one time on the actual Freeway****** They did re-wire according to the tech.
I did try it in my driveway and it appeared to work 8 months ago. I didnt even bother to check the work they did, this is my fault entirely. I should have been more vigilant.
2 weeks ago, I finally get some free time to go to Hollister Hills and try it in the field and low and behold it doesnt work. Worse yet it felt as if no power was transfering to the wheels at all. I did turn it off and it works as normal.
So, I duck underneath and the type of work 4wheel parts did is just utter garbage. I couldnt beleive they left everything exposed to the elements...WTF, they are suppose to be experts.
First the switch was installed but they didnt even put the panel back all the way. I didnt even know untill I drove doorless:

The rear was leaking so, I did an oil change. Thats when I noticed why it was leaking Oil. Is this normal way of installing a E-Locker****

4wheelparts is going to look at the work they did under warranty. I have to wait 2.5weeks for next available spot and leave my JK the whole day at the shop.
I am very concerned they are going say I broke something and charge me hundreds of dollars more

I sure hope not because my JK drives perfect, other than the locker not working.

Wow, that looks horrible. I was considering 4WP to install lockers as well, but this make my decision easy.
Did they actually drill that hole to run the wire? You should ask them about a insulated stud or some type of flange mount terminal that is oil resistant.

If it were me I'd ask for the district managers phone number and explain your issues in a calm tone and offering to email pics & and that your jeep needs to be repaired ASAP not in 2.5 weeks. I'm sure he wouldn't like you to be standing out in front of that location with a sign telling perspective customers of your problem for 2/12 weeks while you wait. I'm confident that you will have a positive outcome you just have to get to a person that can make those that didn't do it right redo it right. There was a fellow on this forum that was an internet sales rep that kinda moved upward in that co. perhaps if you found him he could get you pointed in the right direction an dit certainly wouldn't hurt to let the rep know you're active on multiple jeep forums. Good luck and keep us informed.
Notice the rubber plug on the wires here..?? It could be that the plug slipped back into the diff if not properly installed or if the hole was drilled out to large.. As it is that hole is going to let in a LOT of water...
As far as the wiring.. It's no different than wiring up a fog light.. Switch is on "key switched" power that turns on a fused relay that on constant hot switched to the locker..

The 4WP here in Memphis has a couple of good techs that pay attention to what they are doing and do take some pride in what they do.. They're pretty much underpaid for what they do there, but they put up with it because they don't have to submit weekly "samples"..

Thanks for the info, it helps.
You have to drill a hole in the case to install the wires on an E-locker.. There is supposed to be a rubber plug with the wires running through it.. It should have been a machine fused plug onto the wires..

The one in San Jose, CA
to add insult to injury. I want to reiterate when they first did the install the very next day the JK would turn off on the freeway and the steering wheel felt stiff as heck.. Scared the crap out of me. They wired it wrong and re-wired it by the 3rd day.
So, hopefully they can fix this issue whatever it may be.
