I had the local fab shop take a look at it and he advised to just put a couple weld beads between the housing and the tubes. BUT, he's fearful the housing would warp unless he pulled it, disassembled it and put it in his jigs. I said screw it.
put a jack between the top of the diff and the body. crank it as tight as you dare. then put the jeep in low range and hammer the jeep in reverse. do this a few times till the smileys are gone and then weld the tubes to the housing. (or carefully drive it to someone that can weld)
Ive done this on the trail a few times.
