Default 285-70-17 Goodyear Duratrak or Nitto Trail Grappler swap out on new 14 JK

Have a new 14 JK Rubicon coming and want to swap out the factory tires for a more Michigan winter friendly tire for the stock wheels with minimal or no mods (can swap the tires and get a credit at the Car dealership or Belle Tire/Discount Tire). I will consider 2.5 inch lift, wheels and 35's later and will keep both sets most likely. Based on all the threads the Goodyear Duratrac should be the best on the road for the Michigan winter with Nitto Trail Grappler second. Duratraks and the Trail Grapplers should also be good for some "mild" off road that I will do. Anyone have suggestions?

The Duratracs will be better in snow and rain, the the trail grapplers are lbetter off road, and are much more durable. Both are quiet and ride good. I am happy with my trail grapplers, and they have done good in the little snow we get here.

The Duratrac's are a great tire all around and incredible in the snow. I live in Maryland and while I don't get as much snow as you, we still get a fair amount. I put these on right before winter last year and was thoroughly impressed by them. I cant wait for winter this year so I can go play around in the snow even more with them. I don't know anything about the Nitto but the Duratrac's have the Mountain Snowflake on the side of the tire which is used to indicate tires that do really well in winter conditions. They are great off-road in dirt and mud. As an everyday driver they are great as well. Mine are wearing evenly and have about 20,000 miles on them. I think I will get at least 60k as the tread looks great! Here is my Jeep with 285-70-17 tires and the Jeep has the Teraflex leveling kit as well.
