285x70/R17 fit nice w/o lift
Hey guys, just mounted 285x70/R17's on Pro Comp wheels 17x8 with 4.5" backspacing. Really dresses up the Bright Silver 4x4 Sahara 4-dr. I'll get pics loaded up later today. No lift neccessary asthey clear nicely all the way around. I'll throw in a couple of shots with the wheel turned all the way to show the clearance on the sway bar. There's about 1.5" to 2" clearance there. The wheel and tread stays just inside the fenders and the bubble of the sidewall sticks out an inch or so. You can be the judge.

Nice-- looking forward to the pics! Have you tested them at full articulation, yet? I've been told that size will fit nicely for on-road use, but that they'll rub when they get out on the trail.
I'm interested in your experience since I won't be lifting my JK, but I do wheel it.

full articulation
they don't rub at full articulation with wheel straight. I do expect some slight issues with rubbing the fender at full turn. I'll let you know when I get a chance to test them out. As a back up, I did order a Full Traction 2" budget boost...backordered until January 4, 2008 through 4wd.com. We don't have many rocks and rivers to manuever in LA and I'm a 90% on-road driver, so handling on the streets was more important to me in my decision.

I have 305x70x16 on mine and on the highway they are fine. I am using 16x8 Baja with 4.5" back spacing.
They will rub badly off road and that should go away with the Rusty's 2" lift that goes on Monday.
As you can see in the attachment, they don't stick out.

Hey I have a few naive questions:
I'm used to hearing tire sizes as "35's " or "37's ", just examples. But what is 285x70/R17's? How do your measure that?
Also is backspacing the distance between the tire and the wheel-well?
