Question 295 vs 305 tire size

Both are 33s, and no I dont want 35s yet.

This will be on a TF 2.5 BB with RR 17x9 w/ 4.56 backspacing.

Are there any pros / cons to either width? Any potential issues with backspacing

Getting close finalizing my first lift + wheels + tires!

thx!

There's less than 1/2 inch difference. I can't imagine you'd notice that either way.

I had the 295s installed before my 2" lift . I would go bigger if I had to do it again, Install the lift first then decide, you might even want go with 315s , That will probably be the size I go with when my current tires wear out

What yellowtoy said.

With 4.50 BS on the wheels, either are fine.

Just my 2 cents, but if you have a 9" wide rim, I would want a tire somewhat wider than the rim. I would go with the 305 if not wider. Also, my33x12.5x17 tires are actually 12.3" wide at the widest point, and I wish they were wider still.

If you had like an 8" rim, those 285's would be good on those.

Like I said just my 2 cents. I am sure someone would disagree w/ me though. Good luck in your decision!

Just to put in perspective the 295 = 11.6", 305 =12.0" and 345 = 13.5".

With those wheels you can definitely mount up a 12.5" wide tire and maybe even a 1.35" tire. Assuming its available in the tire brand you select.

FWIW

I would look at the load range. I have 285 AT's that are D load range and 35's KM2's that are C load range and both set up weight about the same.

I think a D or E load range tire is way to much side wall for a JK. So to answer your question I would go with a 295 over a 305 if it was a D range tire any day of the week.

Your back spacing will be fine. You can always measure off your stock tire setup to determine if you after market back spacing will work and get very close.
