Default 2dr gear question

Hey everyone,

Let me start off by saying I am a Dana 30 up front Dana 44 rear. I am thinking about going to 37's. If I installed 5.13 on my 2dr with 35" km2's until I can get my 37's. Would that be overkill? Also, is it ok to be running 5.13's in a d30? I hear that the gear gets really small and can fail? My last question is, do I really need 5.13's with a 2dr? I am lighter than a 4dr. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Sean

Ya. I had seen that. But I guess my main question is can a d30 handle a 5.13 gear? And is that ok for 35&37?

Depends on your usage. Lots of people are running 5.13's with no issues, but if you have a heavy foot or like to spin tires or get stupid in the rocks, you might consider a beefier axle or dropping down a ratio or two.

I have a desire of rapid acceleration on the pavement. But on trails I'm a crawler

So according to that chart, with my manual tranny and 35's, my best all around bet is to go with 4.56 for DD and mild trail use?

4.88 with 6 equals 5.13 with auto?

Thats what I have been told. But it also gives you a little extra meat on the gears.
