Default 2DR Trektop NX issues

I installed the Trektop NX on my 2DR JK last night, and for the life of me I cannot seem to get the two tabs in the rear engaged. These are the plastic tabs on the side window where they wrap around the rear of the jeep by the tailgate. Theses are the tabs for the top that are inserted under the lip of the body and the tailgate rail brackets. I currently have the top installed with the factory tailgate bar. The tabs on the rear window go in fine, but as soon as I try to insert the tabs from the side windows under the rear window tabs, the tailgate bar bracket pops off. Am I better of using the tailgate bar that came with the top. Please help, its going to rain all week and I need to drive to work. Thanks

I used the Bestop tailgate bar on my 2DR and had no problem hooking the tabs. I don't have a factory soft top though so...

Thanks! It seems like most people recommended using the factory tailgate bar, so I never even tried the bestop bar. It worked perfectly.

Hey there

Congrats on your top purchase

So, I used the Bestop tailgate bar. I don't think this issue would be particular ti either .

What I did was I didn't clip the rear window corners but folded them up high enough to clip in the side window ones. I don't think u can clip the corner of the rear window and be able to insert the tab for the side window on top. The belt rail will only have room to clip 1 into it. Since the side window actually overlays, that's what I clipped into the belt rail.

Hope that helps. Been raining like an sob here the last couple days. No leaks. This is a nice leak free top. Only complaint I have is that the front part bows up on the freeway if all the windows are closed. But this is the quietest top I've ever owned.

I am interested in this top but I am not sure. The back windows zipper, is it a better zipper then stock ? Is it a bigger size zipper ? The stock back window over time is a big pain in the ass to put on.

I don't have a factory soft top so I couldn't compare them. I can tell you that I went topless the other day and it was easy to get everything off. When I put everything back on that night I found it easiest to slide the rear window out of the tailgate bar, then slide the rear window into the "J" hook channel at the top of the window, start the zippers and then attach the tailgate bar to the the window ( it uses a "C" channel ) then clamp the bar onto the tailgate and finally zip everything together. Just like the directions say for initial install.

I had the same problem, but I bought the silicone zipper lubricant from Mopar and it works well. My zippers glide with no effort now, except for the corners of the rear window which is normal.
